Baia Mare City Hall will build 46 new charging stations for electric vehicles, through the “SMART ECO – Integrated Power Access Network for Electric Vehicles in Baia Mare City” project.

The technical-economic documentation has been approved, and soon the public tender will be launched. The value of the project is 9,980,239.94 lei, of which a financing of 6,736,714.95 lei is ensured, through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, according to Transilvania Business.

“Through our projects and plans, we want to align ourselves with smart cities, especially when it comes to urban mobility. It is a proven fact that renewable energies are on the first place in the ranking of sustainability and we are taking concrete steps to develop this sector in Baia Mare. We have already started the process of renewing the public transport fleet with modern vehicles.

“This year, we signed the purchase contract for 11 electric buses and related charging stations, which are to be delivered to us by the beginning of next year. However, it is not enough to just modernize public transport. We must also encourage Baimare drivers to opt for ecological vehicles, such as electric cars, and the development of the infrastructure to supply these vehicles is a necessity,” said Ioan Doru Dăncuș, the mayor of Baia Mare.

Baia Mare now has 15 such charging stations, with the aim of building 46 new stations, with a total of 92 sockets, through the “SMART ECO – Integrated Power Access Network for Electric Vehicles in the Municipality of Baia Mare” project load and with a maximum power of 22 and 55 kW, respectively.

“We will place these stations strategically, in places easily accessible to citizens, such as residential, mixed, service, commercial, interurban transit and work areas, to limit travel needs. I trust that, by the end of the year, we will have a designated builder and that, from the beginning of next year, we will be able to start the actual construction of the stations,” Ioan Doru Dăncuș also said.
