The summer of 2024 recorded a thermal deviation of 3.5 degrees Celsius, far above the target assumed in Paris, in 2015, of 1.5 degrees, said, on Monday, the Minister of Environment, Water and Forests, Mircea Fechet.
“We broke all the records for June, July and August. All three summer months were officially declared as the hottest in the history of ANM measurements and we have been measuring for over 120 years. While in Paris, in 2015, there was talk of how much harm a thermal deviation of 1.5 degrees Celsius would cause, which we must avoid at all costs, unfortunately the summer of 2024 already presents a thermal deviation of more than 3.5 degrees Celsius, just to understand the situation we are in,” said Fechet, according to Agerpres.
He stated that when we discuss climate change, we are not only talking about the heat wave, but also about extreme weather phenomena, about significant precipitation in a very short time, in limited areas.
“We are talking about what happened not long ago in Constanța, which is why I appreciate such an initiative all the more (the Helexia partnership with Auchan and Leroy Merlin, n.r.). From the Environment Fund we are trying to be as ambitious this year as well we have allocated a record budget of two billion lei with which we will finance photovoltaic systems for individuals. I said, not long ago, that I want to stop when there will be a photovoltaic panel on every roof in Romania if that moment is very close when all Romanians will benefit from such investments, but certainly, looking at what is happening in the private sector and what is happening with the owners of halls, of buildings with a lot of roofs, I tell you that I am very optimistic,” the Minister of the Environment emphasized.
The Minister of the Environment, Waters and Forests, Mircea Fechet, participated, on Monday, in the inauguration event of the photovoltaic installations developed by Helexia for the retailers Auchan and Leroy Merlin.
