Strabag SE, a listed European technology group specializing in construction services, marks 30 years of activity in Romania by reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and to the “Work on Progress” campaign. The central objective of this initiative is to achieve climate neutrality by 2040, along the entire value chain, by adopting digital, innovative and ecological solutions.

In the context where approximately 38% of global CO2 emissions come from the construction sector, Strabag has assumed – together with its external partners – a leading role in the transformation of this industry. The company’s decarbonization strategy focuses on the use of green materials, resource efficiency and recyclability, as well as smart design to limit losses and reduce environmental impacts. The company currently invests in more than 250 innovation projects and 400 sustainability initiatives.

“In an industry that often focuses only on tangible things – roads, buildings and infrastructure – Strabag has always seen further. For Strabag, the most important building elements are not concrete or steel, but its people. We are a company that understands the value of each individual, a company that supports diversity, inclusion and equality at every level. Strabag people represent over 140 nations, embodying the company’s ethos of global collaboration and local connection, and we are proud that Romanians and Romania are part of our journey,” said Alfred Watzl, member of the Strabag SE Board of Directors.

“In the 30 years of activity on the Romanian market, what has differentiated us is precisely our ability to adapt and innovate. Whether we’re talking about adopting new technologies, tackling complex projects or finding the best solutions to connect people and places, Strabag has always been ready to face any challenge,” added Patrick Hopfgartner, Strabag Romania General Manager.

Present in Romania for 30 years, where it has around 2,000 employees, Strabag has significantly contributed to the modernization of the national infrastructure and the shaping of the urban landscape.

Railway infrastructure projects are added to these.
