Saint-Gobain Romania announces the successful completion of the installation and commissioning project, together with the Visual Fan team, of a photovoltaic plant, intended to supply line no. 1 of the Saint-Gobain Rigips Turda plasterboard factory.
The installation process, completed in just 8 weeks, involved the installation by the Visual Fan partner of 1,725 Tier 1 photovoltaic panels on a total area of almost 7,000 m2, as well as a set of high-performance inverters.
The project, financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and Saint-Gobain’s internal program – the “Carbon Fund”, will contribute to the local reduction of CO2 emissions by 238 tons annually, internally covering a significant part of the electricity consumption of the factory.
“This project represents an important step for Saint-Gobain in the direction of adopting renewable energies and strengthening our commitment to the environment. We are talking about a concrete example of investments made in optimizing our production processes by reducing internal energy consumption. We have an ambitious sustainability goal – net zero carbon emissions by 2050. But equally, we are known and recognized globally for our commitment to decarbonising the construction industry. We do this by investing in innovation, new technologies and a portfolio of solutions that open new paths in the field of light and sustainable constructions,” said Ovidiu Păscutiu, CEO of Saint-Gobain Romania.
This investment is added to the projects already started with ENGIE Romania and OMV Petrom to make local production models more efficient and to demonstrate both the responsibility of the Saint-Gobain Group towards the communities in which it is present, as well as the commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment, in line with our goal “Making the World a Better Home” and strategic plan “Grow & Impact.”
