Last year, the E.ON Romania group supported projects dedicated to the community with around 1.8 million euros, raising to almost 20 million euro the total value of the amounts invested in such initiatives in recent years, according to the Sustainability Report of E. ON for the year 2023, recently published.
The main areas of community involvement were aimed at improving safety culture and preparing future generations by encouraging innovation and supporting school lessons, activities and competitions. Climate change and environmental protection, through projects and campaigns dedicated to energy efficiency, were also priority areas in 2023.
The more than 6,000 hours of volunteering represent a record figure, being almost six times more than in 2022, thanks to the actions in which 1,450 volunteers participated, almost a quarter of the employees of the E.ON Romania Group. Own projects had 70,000 direct beneficiaries.
The #FacemBine campaign meant the organization of dozens of volunteer actions, starting from the micro needs faced by small, vulnerable communities, identified with the support of associations and NGOs at the local level. More than 560 colleagues participated in volunteer actions, and the results were commensurate with their involvement: five playgrounds set up in the yards of schools and kindergartens and a playground for abandoned animals, 2,500 trees planted, 1,000 portions of food cooked and distributed to vulnerable people, 500 packages prepared and distributed for vulnerable children and elderly people, three schools decorated with drawings and inspirational messages, two reading spaces set up in schools, three tourist routes redeveloped and 20 local associations supported.
The year 2023 meant 1,850,000 kWh of energy donated to ten educational, social or health institutions, within the three editions full of exciting stories. For the first time, the year 2023 also meant bringing the social responsibility component to the Electric Festival
Castle. For each participant who visited and got involved in the activities at the E.ON Home Stage stand, the company donated 50 kWh each. In total, at the end of the festival, 250,000 kWh of energy were donated to the “Romulus Ladea” High School of Visual Arts in Cluj-Napoca.
The partnership between E.ON and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) – “Together for safety” completed 11 years last year, during which actions were carried out to inform and prevent risk situations arising from the use of energy sources . Every year, approximately 5 million people were the beneficiaries of the campaigns carried out through all information channels.
E.ON has been running the “Energy in childhood schools” project for over ten years, succeeding in improving the study conditions for students and making energy consumption more efficient in 83 educational institutions, investing around 4.36 million euros so far. In 2023, we have chosen as beneficiaries five schools for children with special needs and two institutions that support children with special needs.
Each month of the last three years has meant the involvement of E.ON Romania in a project, together with the Zi de Bine Association and a partner NGO, based on a partnership designed to develop solutions for challenges related to education, health, social inclusion, poverty or environment.
