The National Energy System has many congested areas where battery energy storage could help, and Romania should think about strategies 5-7 years ahead, as things have entered an irreversible path, said Irene Mihai, Policy Officer at the Romanian Photovoltaic Industry Association (RPIA), at the conference “Battery Energy Storage Systems – BESS Romania”, organised by Energynomics.

“Over 80 per cent of our members are planning storage projects. Everyone is moving towards storage these days. We are trying to align ourselves with the European drive to develop battery energy storage, so that we are no longer dependent on fossil fuels imported from third countries and meet our greenhouse gas reduction targets,” said Mihai.

She added that there is a need for authorities to work together and to update regulations, emphasising that the government’s green energy targets should be increased as existing ones are almost reached.

The conference “Battery Energy Storage Systems – BESS Romania” was organised by Energynomics with the support of our partners: Alive Capital, Elektra Renewable Support, Enevo Group, Ensys, Enexus, OX2, EVOLVE Energy Management Solutions, EVOLVE Energy Management Solutions, SIM Connect, SolaX Power, Think Blu Solution, WEBUS 4 ENERGY, Wiren.
