Romania currently has the lowest energy consumption per capita in the European Union, but this is expected to rise as the country aims to revive heavy industries such as metallurgy and chemicals, according to Adrian Băzăvan, Foreign Affairs Adviser at the Romanian Ministry of Energy.

“Romania has great potential in wind and solar. It is one of those countries that can keep the lights on, including in the Republic of Moldova,” Băzăvan said at the “Regional Approach Istanbul: Co-operation for profitable energy” conference organized by Energynomics and Enexus Renewable Energy.

He emphasized that this is a time of opportunity, with substantial funding available for the energy sector. However, he stressed that Romania’s energy system is not just about Romania but also supports Moldova and Ukraine.

“For Romania, it is crucial to ensure the complete supply of energy to Moldova under any circumstances and without limits. As a result, any investment made in Romania also extends to another market,” he added.

Furthermore, Romania is committed to supporting Ukraine, especially in terms of energy, reinforcing the country’s role as a regional energy hub.

The conference “Regional Approach Istanbul” was organized by Energynomics and  Enexus Renewable Energy, with the support of our partners: Dentons, Electrica,  Elektra Renewable Support, Enexus Renewable Energy, Huawei, iNovat Energy Storage Solutions,  Photomate, Pomega Energy Storage Technologies, RomCapital Invest, Solar Today, Solpeg, STA Solar, Volt.
