The new edition of the Electric UP programme comes with 50% more funding than the previous edition, offering up to 150,000 euros for the installation of photovoltaic power plants and the development of electro-mobility by installing 3,000 electric car charging points, said Dănuț Grigoriu, senior adviser at the Energy Ministry.
“We have to manage this large volume of funds from different funding sources. It is very difficult, but we have seen a lot of interest in a new call for Electric UP. So, we have launched a new call for projects, which includes not only the financing of charging stations and photovoltaic plants, but also the obligation to install an energy storage system and an alternative heating-cooling system to increase the use of renewable energy,” Grigoriu explained at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Iasi 2024”, organised by Energynomics.
If all these charging stations are installed, the total number installed under the programme will reach 6,500 units nationwide. The new phase of the Electric UP programme has a budget of between 450 and 596 million lei. In the first phase, which started in 2020, the programme had a budget of 480 million lei and funded 1,524 projects out of a total of 2,530 applications.
“While in the first stage the funding ceiling was 100,000 euros, we have now decided to raise the limit to 150,000 euros, with state co-financing of up to 75% of eligible expenditure and the beneficiary covering 25%. This change also comes to empower beneficiaries. At the applicants’ request, an advance of up to 30% of the total eligible expenditure can also be granted,” Grigoriu added.
