EnergoBit, one of the few manufacturers of electrical equipment in Romania, proposes to its partners new innovative solutions and locally manufactured products, responding to the needs of the Romanian market as well as the international ones. At an event in Bucharest, CEO Florin Pop presented the company’s vision to launch at least three more economical and environmentally friendly energy solutions every year. “We are organised in three main departments, focusing on medium and low voltage electrical equipment production, engineering and design, and general entrepreneurship.”
This year’s flagship products include the MOD36 and MOD24 range of medium-voltage switchgear, the ultra-low-loss ECO-T distribution transformers and the new transformer with automatic on-load tap changer, all designed to support distribution networks and meet the needs of the renewable energy sector. Florin Pop explained how the transformer with automatic on-load tap-change under-load pad-mounted switch came about. “With the increase in the number of prosumers, the voltage variations in the distribution network have increased a lot and with it the problems in operation. The companies have to send an operator to uncouple the transformer from the substation, change the plots, re-couple. Many times, by the time you have completed this process, the sun comes up or goes out and again you have to send an operator out, switch the voltage off again, change the plots to another step and so on.”
The MOD110 Modular Modular Standardised Transformer Substation is an advanced solution to the demands arising in the renewable sector, ensuring fast and safe installation of equipment directly in the factory to save time and increase reliability. Also, the 110/33kV or 20 kV MOD110 is a robust, SF6-free solution, enabling not only installation efficiency, but also cost and carbon footprint optimisation.
Such innovations are supported by a team of more than 800 people, including 250 dedicated engineers, and continuous investment in advanced technologies such as IoT and artificial intelligence. EnergoBit’s recent digitisation projects, including the creation of ‘twin’ digital designs for power substations and monitoring platforms, significantly reduce design and deployment time, helping to accelerate the process of modernising the national energy infrastructure and making the company attractive to new generations of professionals.
EnergoBit already has extensive experience in renewable energy projects, helping to connect thousands of megawatts (MW) of wind and solar power, including the flagship Fântânele-Cogealac project, until recently the largest onshore wind farm in Europe, built with a strong Romanian contribution. EnergoBit is now working with project developers to facilitate the second wave of renewable energy. “EnergoBit has concluded and already partly executed contracts for power stations related to renewable energy generation projects. We are talking about power stations enabling the evacuation of about 700 MW. We still have contracts negotiated or in the very final stages of signing for about 300 MW more.” The company anticipates that by the end of the year it will total around 1,000 MW in contracts signed or already executed for power stations integrating renewable generation capacity into the grid.
