The distribution company Delgaz Grid started on Tuesday, November 5, the modernization works of the Iași Sud transformer station, a project with a total value of over 73.3 million lei, of which over 56.7 million represents European funding through the Fund for Modernization.

The Iași Sud transformer station is the largest of those operated by Delgaz Grid, both in terms of the number of embedded equipment and the power transmitted, as well as the functional complexity and connections with other stations in the distribution system.

This station represents an important node for the energy supply of the municipality of Iasi, ensuring, together with the stations with which it is connected by high voltage lines, almost a third of the consumption of the municipality of Iasi.

Also, the energy zone of Iași county is interconnected with the neighboring areas through four connections at the voltage of 110 kV, and one of them connects directly to this station.

“We are starting today one of the largest projects to modernize the distribution network to an objective of maximum importance both for the supply of the city of Iași and the neighboring area, as well as for the interconnection of the area with the national energy system. For our customers, it means increasing the degree of safety in providing the necessary energy, but also better distribution services, as well as increasing the capacity to take over energy produced from renewable sources,” said Cristian Secoșan, GM of Delgaz Grid.

The station supplies approximately 11,000 domestic and non-domestic consumers from most of the industrial area and the Bucium district, as well as from the towns of Dancu, Tomești, Holboca, Goruni, Chicirea, Osoi, Lunca Cetatuii, Visani, Hlincea, Bucium, Vladiceni, Rusenii Vechi , Rusenii Noi, Rediu Aldei, Orzeni, Valea Lunga, Cristesti, Mânzătesti.

The main categories of works are aimed at replacing most of the equipment with the latest generation ones. Thus, three high-power transformers, 18 switches, 52 separators and 102 high-voltage current/voltage transformers, protection systems, equipment for integrating the station into SCADA (data acquisition and remote control) will be replaced.

To ensure part of its own consumption, photovoltaic panels with a power of 67 kW will be placed on the station buildings, which will generate an annual amount of energy of approximately 80 MWh.

Delgaz Grid has, in various stages of implementation, investment projects in the electricity distribution network worth a total of 1.8 billion lei, with a co-financing of 1.4 billion lei through the Modernization Fund.
