The Minister of the Environment, Waters and Forests, Mircea Fechet, in the presence of the President of the Senate, Nicolae Ciucă, local authorities and representatives of the companies Ax Perpetuum and Techbolide, inaugurated new modern and efficient separate waste collection systems in the cities of Darmănești and Moinești, Bacău county.

These digitalized eco-islands were installed through a complex program with a total value of over 260 million euros, targeting dozens of other localities across the country. The entire program is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

Ax Perpetuum, as the project leader and Techbolide, as a subcontractor, two reference companies in the field of technology and the environment, won a significant part of the tender organized by the Ministry of the Environment, and will implement these solutions in 50 localities, including in important cities such as Bacău, Alba Iulia, Sighisoara, Suceava, Deva or Predeal. As part of the project, the two companies will install 2,159 eco-islands, specially configured for the separate collection of waste.

The implementation process of the recently inaugurated project is ongoing, and among the localities that already benefit from the new modern waste management system are Alba Iulia, Cugir, Năvodari, Tg. Secuiesc, Victoria, Galati, Vlăhita, Sângeorgiu de Pădure, Abrud and Sfântu Gheorghe. The program will continue with other Territorial Administrative Units, where they are being installed, and the project will gradually expand to the country level.

“Digitalization and, above all, the efficiency of the waste management system is an important objective for Romania. We have some very ambitious targets to reach, such as a readiness for reuse and recycling of municipal waste of 55% by 2025 or reducing the amount of municipal waste to landfill to 10% by 2035. With we all want a cleaner environment, and the way to get there starts with efficient waste sorting. I have faith in this program, which will bring the efficient management system to localities that either encounter challenges in implementing solutions, or have had no access to such solutions until now,” explained Mircea Fechet, Minister of Environment, Water and Forests.

Within the project, Ax Perpetuum is the project leader and supplier of the eco-islands, and Techbolide provides the complete and customized solution for the digitization component.

“It is a very important project, which gives us the opportunity to provide several thousand complex IoT systems for eco-islands. We are talking about systems that are composed of the hardware solution, the access control element, and the software, the master application for local authorities and the one for citizens. It is a complex project, in which we use all our experience accumulated so far both in the development of customized solutions and in collaboration with local authorities. I strongly believe in the digitization solution we have created and I expect this project to bring new perspectives for what a cleaner environment means for the next generations,” said Mădălina Smochină, CEO of Techbolide.

“We are excited to see how this project grows as we implement the proposed solutions in more and more localities and more and more people benefit from digitized eco-islands. I believe that our involvement in the complex program developed by the Ministry of the Environment is proof of the quality of our products and the competitiveness we have in the market. We are in an intense period both for us and for our partners, and I am convinced that, at the end of this project, waste management in the localities where the project is implemented will be more efficient, and they will be cleaner,” added Dan Pitic, CEO of Ax Perpetuum.
