WALDEVAR Holding will “soon” open its first floating photovoltaic panels production plant in Romania, said Christian Leonte, the company’s CEO.

“We are soon to open a floating photovoltaic factory in Romania. Our country has huge potential, being the second largest country in Europe after the Netherlands in terms of water surface area. We are the first European company that will produce these systems at a very high volume”, said the head of WALDEVAR Holding, at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Bucharest” organised by Energynomics together with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania – CCIpR.

The company is now approaching the 1 GW threshold of photovoltaic projects realised or under implementation.

Leonte added that this second wave of investment in renewables is likely to fade in a few years, but power plants will need experts to operate and maintain them. Also, this explosive growth will stop in Europe at some point, but will continue in other parts of the world.

“It is very important, from a sustainability and security point of view, that the financing, realisation and maintenance of these capabilities is done with internal resources, because we have seen how costly reliance on others can be. It is always good to be self-sufficient,” emphasised Leonte, referring in particular to China.

The conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Bucharest” was organised by Energynomics together with the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania – CCIpR, with the support of our partners: Bonatti, Datacor, Elektra Renewable Support, Elvo, Enexus Renewable Energy, Generali, HBI Real Estate, Intesa Sanpaolo Bank, Keno Energy, Personnel Select, Polytrade Global, Prime Batteries Technology, Prysmian, Schneider Electric, SolarX Power, UniCredit Bank, VARD, WALDEVAR Energy, WEBUS 4 Energy.
