The company Rețele Electrice Banat, part of the PPC group in Romania, is launching, through the public procurement IT system, a works procurement procedure worth 118.8 million lei, excluding VAT, for the modernisation of the medium and low voltage networks in Nădlac, Arad county. The deadline for submission of bids is 15 January 2025, and the works will last 22 months from the conclusion of the contract.

The works will consist of the construction of two new 13.5 km long medium-voltage lines to be energised from the Semlac transformer station. These works will make a significant contribution to increasing security of supply to consumers in the area. A fibre-optic route will also be laid along the two lines to facilitate the integration into the SCADA remote control system of 18 transformer stations, 14 of which will be completely modernised by relocating them in new cabins and replacing all the equipment.

The low-voltage overhead network covered by the project, fed from the 18 transformer substations, will be modernised by replacing it over a length of 140 km, and in the central area of Nădlac, it will be undergrounded over a length of 16.68 km. Quality analysers will be installed in the transformer substations in order to have a high degree of monitoring of the quality of the distribution service.

For more than 2,700 consumers in the town of Nădlac, connections will be modernised and metering groups will be installed at the property boundary. These metering groups are part of the National Plan for the installation of smart meters, ensuring more accurate monitoring of energy consumption and connecting users to a smart electricity grid.

The project has a total value of more than 122.5 million lei, excluding VAT, of which the maximum amount secured from the Modernisation Fund is 85.9 million lei.

The Rețele Electrice companies operate networks totalling about 134,000 kilometres in three major areas of the country: Muntenia Sud (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering one third of the local distribution market, and develop an investment programme to improve the quality of service, safety and performance of the networks and local implementation of PPC Group’s environmental standards. The electricity networks operated by the three Rețele Electrice companies include 289 transformer stations and over 25,000 substations.
