Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja signed 55 financing contracts on Friday for projects to build solar parks for city halls and public institutions, with a total value of 120.9 million lei and an installed capacity of 18.45 MW.
“So far, we have signed projects worth over 1 billion lei for city halls and public institutions, through which they will build solar parks and reduce their electricity bills. Today alone, we have signed with 55 city halls and public institutions, supporting local communities to reduce utility costs, ensure energy consumption for schools, nurseries, polyclinics or public lighting, and return the money saved to the community through new investments,” said Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja, quoted in a statement quoted by Agerpres.
The contracts signed on Friday are related to the call financed by the Modernization Fund, Key Program 1: Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Storage – Supporting investments in new capacities for the production of electricity produced from renewable sources for self-consumption for public entities.
Burduja specified that only on this call, 367 financing contracts were signed for the construction of new solar parks.
“The motto of my mandate remains the same: investments, investments, investments. So far, on this call, I have signed 367 financing contracts for the construction of new solar parks. The direct beneficiaries are the city halls and public institutions, but also the citizens who will have cleaner air, cheaper energy and new investments in local communities. The total value of the contracts signed to date amounts to over 1 billion lei, of which 938 million lei are non-reimbursable funds from the Modernization Fund,” Sebastian Burduja also said.
The Ministry of Energy reconfirms its commitment to energy investments and thus fulfills an important objective for the development of renewable energy production capacities in Romania. The number of applicants in the call is approximately 1400 public institutions, and the Ministry of Energy team managed to secure, from the Modernization Fund, financing for all eligible projects submitted. The principle for evaluation and contracting is “first come, first served” (FIFO), depending on the moment of submission of the financing application by each applicant.
