On Friday, November 29, 2019, the second march for climate action will take place in Bucharest and 11 other cities under the name of “Day for climate action”. The action will be organized in Târgu Jiu, Iași, Timișoara, Constanta, Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, Sibiu, Brașov, Bacău, Târgul Ocna and Craiova. The march is organized by the FFF and Climate Strike Romania.
Marchings and protests for climate action are taking place all over the world, are becoming more frequent and are being organized to inform politicians that the system they represent must change the existing strategy and declare a climate emergency, activists say.
On September 20, at the first such march organized in Romania, more than 1,000 people were present in Bucharest and 800 people in the other 8 cities where the protests took place, the majority being students. “The decision makers need to understand that people will no longer tolerate a political environment that does not take climate change into account,” say environmental activists.
