The Government of Romania approved by decision the removal from the forest fund of the land necessary for the construction of 400 kV Portile de Fier-Anina-Resita aerial power line (LEA), a project worth 123 million lei, an important component of the 400 kV crossing of the axis Porțile de Fier-Reșița-Timișoara-Săcălaz-Arad.
The project is essential for closing the 400 kV ring of Romania, maintaining national energy security and increasing the interconnection capacity with the neighboring countries, Transelectrica announces.
“The entire team of the Executive congratulates the company’s specialists who contributed to the promotion of this governmental decision with professionalism and involvement. We have succeeded in recent months in convincing decision makers about the strategic importance to Romania of this investment. Construction works of the Anina-Reşiţa section are executed at a rate of 90%, and with the promotion of this decision, the construction works can start in the forest fund. Thus, the Porțile de Fier-Reșița-Timișoara-Săcălaz-Arad axis axis will be one step closer to completion, which helps Romania become a pole of stability and security in the region,” said Marius Dănuţ Carasol, president of the Transelectrica’s Directorate.
The crossing of the axis at the 400 kV voltage will lead to the strengthening of the interconnection network with ENTSO-E in the south-west and west of the country. The project is included in the list of Projects of Common European Interest, part of the “Mid Continental East Corridor” cluster, thanks to the project’s contribution to the implementation of the European Union’s strategic priorities for trans-European energy infrastructure.
