“I hope that suppliers’ exposure in the DAM is not significant and they will have contracted their power needs earlier, with premiums included in the supply prices to cover such risk”, says Theodor Livinschi, founder of partnerg-i. “Under no circumstances is desirable to hear again about ‘price increases during the contract’. Although the share quantities traded in the DAM in forecast consumption is decreasing, reaching 36,66% last month, its value is still high for a adjusting market.”
The overall trend, which is reflected in the monthly averages of the DAM prices, is one of growth and we can even see higher price differences in the same periods.
“It is once again visible that the market is highly volatile and I urge consumers to be very cautious and careful in planning their energy purchases, in negotiating contract conditions and in selecting suppliers. I also recommend that consumers who prefer to index part of their consumption to the DAM prices that they include terms into the supply contract by which they can close those positions opened earlier with forward products. This way, they will be able to secure a price for a certain period when the trend of accelerated growth in the DAM is noticed,” adds Theodor Livinschi.
