The report recently issued by the Court of Auditors on the performance of the electricity market in Romania during 2010 – 2014 is an opportunity for clarification of the principles governing the power distribution service, say members of the Federation of Associations of Companies for Utilities in Energy (ACUE). Investments in networks in those years resulted in halving the duration of interruptions in supply, a situation highlighted even by the report in question, say ACUE representatives.
“Operators in Europe have strict obligations of investment and maintenance of cost reduction and efficiency all with the aim of improving the quality of the service, Romania is no exception in this respect, and the results are well known and certified officially. One example would be reducing by half the duration of electricity interruptions, for the audited period (2010 – 2014)”, says ACUE.
The members of ACUE federation stand by their investment strategies, which were done respecting legal and regulatory provisions, all with the result of improving the network they operate, as various key performance indicators show, ACUE representatives completed.
“For the correct information of the public opinion and of authorities, we have always been open for all interested parties to clarify any miss-interpretations, regarding a system that is extremely complex and can be vulnerable to misunderstandings. In this respect, ACUE published a study on the market functioning in Europe and tariff structure in electricity and gas. We will continue to support an open dialogue and fair information exchange, in the interest of consumers and of Romanian investment climate, taking into account that ACUE members already invested during 2008 – 2014 around 9.7 billion RON and the investments need to remain at the same level”, explain power distributors through the voice of ACUE.
Before this reaction, the Court of Auditors issued a report containing an analysis of serious disturbances that occurred in the electricity market in Romania between 2010 – 2014. The regulator has acted quickly to this report and communicated that data used by this institution breaches of energy regulations and incorrect revenues cashed in by some energy market players come from two different regulatory periods, element that makes the arguments and conclusions of the report to not be objective and accurate.
