The North-East Development Agency will launch a financial instrument dedicated to financing the projects of private companies, and the available funds will amount to 158 million euro, said Vasile Asandei, director of the North-East Development Agency.
“It will be run through the banks. We will have an intermediary, which can be the European Investment Bank or the SME Guarantee Fund, and it will select the banks according to their capacity and availability,” he said at the conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Iasi 2024”, organised by Energynomics.
The Agency’s regional programme for 2021-2027 foresees a total allocation of 1.75 billion euros in the region, of which 38% will be directed towards energy efficiency and environmental projects. However, in the previous financial year, the RDA had requests for energy efficiency projects in buildings of less than 1% of the budget. In the current financial year, the North-East RDA will focus on financing increased energy efficiency in public buildings.
“Through our regional programme we are mainly funding energy efficiency in public buildings, green transport, digitisation, innovation, research, things that are absolutely essential. The time in which we can absorb European funds is in the past. For business people, in the real world you have a lot of needs, you prioritise them and look for resources. So do communities and countries. We work too much as individuals. Others are ahead of us in competitiveness, innovation, technology transfer. Energy and environment are two major themes, alongside digitalization. They are the main issues we should tackle in the future,” Asandei added.
This conference “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Iasi 2024” was organised by Energynomics with the support of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Romania – CCIpR and of our partners: Datacor, Exim Banca Românească, Polytrade Global, Solar Turbines, UniCredit Bank, WALDEVAR .
