AHK Romania recently launched a new White Paper on energy, entitled “Shaping the energy transition for the Romanian industry”, which requires the authorities to develop new interdependent and correlated strategies for the energy and industry fields, according to the document consulted by Energynomics.
“Against the current background of Romania’s security policies, but also in the context of European green initiatives and new climate targets, the issue of energy policies in Romania has a major impact on the country as an investment location. Skillfully traversing the energy transition, while maintaining Romania’s industrial investment advantages, is a priority for AHK Romania. In this sense, we elaborated the White Paper ‘Modeling the energy transition for the Romanian industry’,” said the officials of AHK Romania.
“We support the idea of a revised National Energy Strategy, which should take into account the principles set out in the new Fit for 55 legislative package, with a focus on developing a hydrogen-centric economy,” reads the AHK document consulted by Energynomics.
“AHK strongly believes that a National Energy Strategy together with a local Industrial Strategy are equally important to stimulate the competitiveness of Romanian industry and to increase investor confidence. Therefore, in the context of the double transition, the representatives of the Romanian industry should benefit from a clear program, now more than ever, which should help create a route for the industry and to strengthen Romania’s role in the European industry,” the document reveals.
On June 30, 2022, AHK Romania organized the launch event of this strategic document which is the result of the long work of the Working Group for Energy and the Chemical Industry. For the first time, political decision-makers, industry and energy experts were brought under the neutral umbrella of the Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry to mark opportunities and analyze the challenges posed by the new European agreements in the field of sustainability and energy transition.
“The uniqueness of this White Paper consists in approaching the current energy paradigm from a double perspective – it recommends policies for the energy transition, focusing on maintaining Romania’s industrial competitiveness. The solutions proposed by AHK Romania experts are described in stages, in the short, medium and long term, and the ultimate goal is our commitment to support an optimal governance model for the Romanian industry,” said Sebastian Metz, General Manager of AHK Romania, at the end of the meeting.
“As a result of this approach and the recommendations from the representatives of the ministries to bring the AHK expertise closer to them, we will keep this dialogue platform open and we will continue to get involved so that Romania can take full advantage of its current energy profile, to ensure the competitiveness of its industry.”
