Aiud City Hall has won ”the largest European funding in post-revolutionary history” for the municipality, the institution announced.

Thus, Aiud City Hall signed the financing contract for the project “Ecological public transport in the city of Aiud”, a project with a total value of over 48 million lei. Through this project, the City Hall envisages the acquisition of 16 electric buses, monitored by GPS, the creation of an ultramodern depot for urban vehicles, the modernization of 28 stations for passengers, an electronic program, in real time, to inform the citizens about the schedule of means of transport, the introduction of the e-ticketing system, a modern system for the purchase of travel tickets, the purchase of 50 bicycles and the establishment of three “bike sharing” points. At the same time, the town hall is considering the construction of three bike paths, the rehabilitation of streets and the creation of pedestrian spaces.

“This is the most ambitious project for the city of Aiud assumed by the current executive, a project that will completely change the way in which urban mobility takes place. After the 63 months of implementation, the Aiud people will benefit from an urban transport worthy of the 21st century,” the town hall announced.
