AJ BRAND is currently building a 640 MW PV project with an additional 680 MW of storage, located 40 kilometers away from Bucharest. This project is part of a larger portfolio of 1.3 GW under construction across Romania, according to Adrian Stan, Founder and Chairman of the Board at AJ BRAND.
“In just 16 months, we’ve developed 700 MW, and our latest 340 MW project under the Development Services Agreement (DSA) will be finalized in about two months,” Stan explained on the occasion of the conference “International Approach: Catalyzing Romania’s energy future”, organised by Energynomics in London.
Stan believes that Romania is currently experiencing the best moment in the energy sector, with a strong foundation for growth. However, large-scale projects come with their own set of challenges.
“Right now in Romania, we have the best moment for the energy sector, but big projects also come with big challenges. It’s very important to focus on the human factor. Flexibility and fast decision-making are crucial to success,” he said.
Stan also pointed out that not all projects in Romania are viable. He explained that many projects are not feasible and cannot be financed. Even AJ BRAND, as an investor, has faced this challenge. Although the company intended to acquire some smaller projects, after conducting a thorough analysis, 90% of them were deemed not bankable.
The conference “International Approach: Catalyzing Romania’s energy future” was organised by Energynomics in London with the support of our partners AJ Brand, Elektra Renewable Support, Adrem Asset Management, Enexus, Nofar Energy, Parapet, Wiren.
