Romania will have at its disposal 24 billion euro for green projects, out of the total of almost 80 billion euro obtained after the negotiations with the European Council, claims the Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Costel Alexe.
“President Klaus Iohannis obtained a remarkable amount for Romania, the largest that our country has ever had at its disposal. Of this 80 billion, according to the decisions of the European Council, 30% will have to be spent on green targets, to create a successful economy, with low carbon emissions, according to the objectives of the European Green Deal. Our priority now is one thing: to attract all these funds, including those to combat the effects of the pandemic. I say this because the 33 billion euro from the economic recovery program will have to be spent in the next two years. This means a dynamic rhythm to send all our plans to the European authorities,” says Alexe, in a press release of the ministry, according to Capital.ro.
At the same time, the minister also stressed that the priority for the coming months is to focus on environmental projects, so that Romania benefits from as much money as possible from the funds it has at its disposal, and the emphasis will fall, in the first stage, on the approximate 10 billion euro from the European Union’s Economic Recovery Plan.
