Romania has only one path that it should follow and that is of the green economy, said the Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests, Costel Alexe.
“From today on we have only one path that we will have to follow and that is the green economy and I am very happy to say and claim that Romania has chosen this path. It has chosen this path because the Government of which I am part of signed the declaration that the European Green Deal is the only way for the development of the EU in this post-Covid time. (…) We felt in this state of emergency, state of alert, how important for all of us the environment is, how important it is to capitalize on this resource that we have and because we are in a Natura 2000 site, today, here, on the outskirts of Bucharest, in the forest and lake Cernica, where we have an absolutely fantastic biodiversity and we must congratulate all those who succeeded to ensure its preservation,” said Alexe, according to Agerpres.
The Minister specified that 23% of the country’s surface is a Natura 2000 site area, Romania occupying the 9th place in Europe, and two million Romanians live their daily lives “in these natural treasures of Romania.”
