Alpha Bank Romania will launch the first Mortgage Bond Program in Romania worth 1 billion euro and the first issue of the program, with a limit of 200 million euro, will take place in the near future, the bank said on Tuesday.
“We are pleased to announce the first mortgage bond program in Romania, an initiative that continues our pioneering tradition in the banking sector, after the first real estate loan was launched in 2001. Through this Program, Romania will enter the countries that have both modern legislation, as well as an active market for mortgage bonds,” said Sergiu Oprescu, Alpha Bank Romania’s executive president.
Alpha Bank Romania intends to list the bonds issued under the Program on both the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Moody’s will assign ratings to bonds issued under the Program.
