The energy regulatory authority (ANRE) issued in the first five months of the current year 60 authorizations for solar and only six for wind, compared to 47 for solar and one for wind in the same period of the previous year, reveals the institution’s data, obtained by Energynomics. Also in the first five months, ANRE approved licenses for the commercial exploitation of solar energy of 21.8 GW, much less than the 82 GW approved in the same period from 2023. Neither establishment authorizations nor new licenses for wind energy were approved.
Thus, a downward trend in applications demand is observed, and experts claim that only 10-15% of the projects approved on paper will be actually completed.
At the same time, in March 2024 the number of prosumers increased to the number of 121,304 compared to March 2023, when a number of 55,244 prosumers were connected to electricity distribution networks, representing more than a doubling in their number.
”Regarding the evolution of the power installed by prosumers, in March 2023 there was an installed power of 636 MW in the capacities owned by prosumers, while on 31.03.2024 the power installed in the capacities owned by prosumers reached the value of 1,618 MW, representing an increase of approximately 1,000 MW over the 12 months period mentioned.
Regarding the trend regarding the evolution of prosumers for the year 2024, considering the situations presented, there is a significant increase in the number of prosumers, the current monthly growth trend based on data collected during the winter period, combined with the perspective of the implementation of financing programs from European funds, could lead to the forecast for the end of 2024 of a number of prosumers that can reach the value of 200,000,” said the ANRE experts.
“Regarding the request related to the installed power limit for prosumers, considering the provisions of art. 3 point 95 of the Electricity and Natural Gas Law no. 123/2012 with the subsequent amendments and additions regarding the definition of the prosumer, we note the fact that it does not explicitly refer to the limitation of the value related to the installed electric power for the capacities held by the prosumers,” added the ANRE experts.
