The investments approved by the National Regulatory Authority in the field of Energy in the period 2018-2021 amount to approximately 15 billion lei, compared to the forecast value of 14.8 billion lei, according to a press release.
“Following the monitoring carried out by the National Energy Regulatory Authority on the investment programs of the operators of natural gas and electricity transmission and distribution networks, the Authority found that, in the period 2018 – 2021, total investments were made in the amount of about 15 billion lei, compared to the forecast value of 14.8 billion lei. In this way, the total investment effort committed by the operators in the field exceeded the planned value, reaching 101%,” the press release states.
Thus, investment works in the electricity sector were worth 9.2 billion lei, compared to 8.7 billion lei. The most important share of investments is found in distribution networks, respectively 91%.
In the natural gas sector, investment programs of 5.8 billion lei were carried out, compared to the planned amount of 6.1 billion lei. Of this, approximately 62% represents Transgaz’s contribution to the completion of the BRUA pipeline.
“According to the obligations imposed by ANRE, natural gas transmission and distribution operators will recover the investment required until the end of 2023”, the press release emphasizes.
ANRE specifies that the works mainly considered the modernization and development of the natural gas and electricity networks in order to ensure their operation in safe, efficient and reliable conditions, in accordance with the performance standards approved by ANRE.
At the same time, the Authority monitored the evolution of the electric power installed in the electricity production capacities, from 2018 until now. Thus, on August 18, 2022, the electrical power installed in the National Energy System (SEN) was of 18,314 MW, compared to 23,918 MW, recorded at the beginning of 2018.
Compared to 2018, there was a reduction of approximately 5,600 MW in production capacities, mainly due to owners abandoning units with coal and hydrocarbons as their primary resource.
During the mentioned period, new energy capacities were realized with a total installed power of about 69.5 MW, as follows: 65 MW – hydrocarbons; 2.5 MW – biogas; 2 MW – wind. The related investment value was 172 million lei.
In the last 3 years, ANRE has modified a series of licenses by updating the installed electrical powers in order to reflect the real situation at the SEN level, so that potential investors in new energy capacities are correctly and transparently informed.
