Until the date of liberalization, respectively on June 30, 2020, out of the total number of 3,844,474 household customers, 12% had concluded contracts related to the supply of natural gas in a competitive regime, according to ANRE. Subsequently, by September 30, another 10.5 percent joined them, so that the proportion of customers with new contracts reached 22%, the institution announced.
”Out of the number of 3,378,722 household customers who had not exercised their right of eligibility on 30 June 2020 (NR), 10.55% concluded contracts related to the supply of natural gas in a competitive manner… Thus, on 30 September 2020, approximately 22% had concluded contracts related to the supply of natural gas in a competitive regime.”
ANRE states that starting with July 1, 2020 and until the date of concluding a contract for the supply of natural gas in a competitive regime, but not later than June 30, 2021, the supply of natural gas for passive domestic customers is made under the previous contractual conditions, respectively based on the regulated contract that the client had concluded with the current supplier, but at the competitive price communicated to the client by the current supplier in the period prior to the liberalization.
At the same time, for the harmonization at European level, until 2026, of the rules in the energy market in order to technically change the supplier in 24 hours, ANRE implements a project financed from non-reimbursable funds that will determine the optimization of operational processes in the energy market (gas and electricity) generated by supplier change requests, by managing the information flow in a fully automated way. The project “Development of the institutional capacity of the National Energy Regulatory Authority to simplify the process of changing the electricity and natural gas supplier” has as implementation period 24 months, respectively July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2022, with a total value of almost 20 million lei.
