Romania imported 80% more electricity in the first three months of this year, compared to the same period last year, while exports fell by half, according to the latest electricity market monitoring report by the National Regulatory Authority for Energy Energy regulation.
Thus, if in January-March 2018, imports were 0.63 TWh, in the first three months of this year they climbed to 1.13 TWh. At the same time, exports dropped from 1.83 TWh to 0.86 TWh, according to Agerpres.
Domestic consumption decreased by 2.7%, from 15.15 TWh to 14.75 TWh.
Domestic users’ consumption under competitive conditions was 80% higher, while users paying regulated prices consumed 17.8% less electricity. Consumption of economic agents declined slightly by 1.1%.
Electricity production was of 15.45 TWh, the main source being the hydro, with 26% of the total, followed by coal – 22%, nuclear – 19%, gas – 15%, wind – 13%, photovoltaic – 7%, biomass – 0.17 and fuel oil – 0.02%.
