The national platform for the change of electricity and natural gas suppliers by end customers will be ready this year, said Dumitru Chirita, president of the National Energy Regulatory Authority.
Through this platform, the end customer reduces the time to change the supplier from 21 days to 24 hours.
“The project is 98% funded by European non-reimbursable funds. Once the project is completed, this initiative demonstrates, once again, the importance that ANRE attaches to optimizing operational processes, in order to reduce bureaucracy and strengthen competition in the energy sector,” stated Chiriţă, quoted by Agerpres.
According to him, the current energy context has highlighted the fact that we need more than ever a more integrated and supportive European Union, including in terms of investment in the energy sector.
“The challenges of recent years have forced us to make quick and efficient decisions to mitigate the effects of the crises we are experiencing. One solution is to promote renewable energy, coupled with increased storage capacity to mitigate system imbalances, which would reduce or the elimination of dependence on imported gas and would contribute to the achievement of the objectives assumed at European level,” added the ANRE president.
