The exit of Great Britain from the European Union would turn Romania into the largest gas producer in the EU, Energy Minister Anton Anton said in a press conference. Gas from domestic production, though, is not enough to cover even domestic demand, the minister said, quoted by Agerpres.
“We, in Romania, have about 30% of the population that is connected to gas networks. It is unacceptably small ratio, thinking that Romania is a gas producer, and after Brexit will be the largest gas producer in the EU. It is true, gas that we produce are not enough. Are not enough, I think it would help us greatly having the Black Sea gas, for which we are ready, we have network extensions, new central power stations, cogeneration centers for the big cities”, added the minister.
