The Romanian fleet increased by 6.9% last year, with approximately 515,000 units, reaching about eight million units, according to a statement of the Romanian Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers.
APIA figures, which cite the data published by the Direction of Driving and Registration of Vehicles (DRPCIV), show that this increase of the car park is the biggest contribution to the personal cars that, in 2019, added to the national park a total number of 606.163 of units (161,562 new and 444,601 second hand), which thus increased by 7%.
Add to this the commercial vehicles, which registered throughout the year 2019 a number of 80,895 new units that entered the park (25,936 new and 54,959 SH), the car park of this category also increasing in 2019 by 6.1%, according to Agerpres.
On the other hand, about 132,000 units came out of the fleet, of which 95,000 were scrapped and dismantled.
At the same time, a quarter of the cars in Romania are older than 16 years, even though their number decreased by 14.3% in 2019, compared to 2018.
