The Hungarian company Astrasun Solar has several large-scale photovoltaic projects in the pipeline and could build a solar panel factory in Romania if orders of more than 1,000 MW are received.
“If we get 1,000 MW projects in Romania, we will build a panel factory here,” said Attila Keresztes, president and CEO of Astrasun Solar, during the “More renewables for Romania” conference, organized by Energynomics.
The company has been active since 1998 and has completed 2,000 PV projects since 2014. In 2015, the company had a market share of 10%, and currently operates 40 of its own PV plants.
Astrasun is working on several projects of 50 MW each, as well as smaller ones, and is looking for Romanian partners.
According to Keresztes, providing quality operation and maintenance services is key to the long-term operation of PV plants.
“We always work with local companies and are extremely attentive to quality standards. If we have good quality services, the return on investment is guaranteed,” he added.
A year ago, the company announced that it was preparing to implement 1.2 GW projects in Romania and that it was considering the construction of three plants to serve the material needs of solar power plants from 2024.
