Bepco Company acquired 11 gas cogeneration engines in connection with an investment of 34 million euros which involves the construction of four plants connected to the district heating system in Brasov. The solution provider for this project is GE Distributed Power, of the American group General Electric (GE).

They can generate 38 thermal MW and 42 electrical MW, benefiting from an efficiency of over 84%, says GE Distributed Power. The investment was financed by BCR through a five-year loan, and from the own resources of the company, said Simina Costan, CEO of Bepco cited by Bursa.

“The energy we produce reaches about 20% of the consumers in Brasov, respectively 12,000, so the potential is huge, if you establish a strategy for reconnecting consumers. In five years we should reach 19,000 consumers. The current production capacity is sufficient for 30,000 people, “said Simina Costan.

“Our cogeneration projects have solved one of the main problems related to energy efficiency of urban district heating system in Braşov […] Given the financial problems faced by the former company responsible for the production and supply of heat of Brasov, I had opportunity to implement the GE solution based on gas engines that offer greater efficiency for the systems of our customers and contribute to achieving the energy efficiency in Romania “, added the general manager of Bepco.

GE has supplied equipment for the modernization of the central heating systems in Romania to STC company in Oradea, to Vest-Energo company for a 20 MW cogeneration plant in Bucharest and for the Coca Cola Hellenic Bottling Company and for a power plant in Ploieşti, notes Mediafax.
