The Minister of Transport, Lucian Bode, said on Friday in Cluj-Napoca that one of the most important railway infrastructure projects is the electrification and refurbishment of the railway line Cluj-Napoca – Oradea – Episcopia Bihor and signed an agreement with the mayors from Cluj-Napoca, Oradea and Arad regarding the support of the project, worth 7.3 billion lei.
“It is an important day for the Ministry of Transport. Together with the mayors and the directors of CFR Infrastructure and the Road Company, we managed to overcome several obstacles in the implementation of major infrastructure projects in the North-West Region. We had a working meeting with the mayors from Cluj-Napoca, Oradea and Arad with which we have been reviewing projects. One of the most important railway infrastructure projects, a major project, is the electrification and refurbishment of the railway line Cluj-Napoca – Oradea – Episcopia Bihor. We signed the agreement for the implementation of this project with the three mayors, which obliges all interested parties to comply with the assumed deadlines,” said Lucian Bode, quoted by Agerpres.
He said that this railway will lead to the decongestion of traffic from Curtici, where 1,200 freight train cars pass daily. “Dacia-Renault and Ford asked me to solve the problem from Curtici, because the trains are waiting for tens of hours to cross the border in Hungary for various reasons. After electrifying the railway Cluj-Napoca – Oradea – Bishopric of Bihor, we will have the second exit gate to the West,” added Lucian Bode.
