The coherence of the measures taken in the field of transport in the European Union will directly determine the economic evolution of the European space, said the Minister of Transport, Lucian Bode, on Wednesday.
“The coherence of the measures taken in the field of transport in the European Union will directly determine the economic evolution of the European space. If we take measures quickly for the carriers to carry out their activity today without blockages, at the end of the crisis generated by the new coronavirus, we will have the functional basis on which the European economy will recover,” said Lucian Bode, according to a statement from the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communications (MTIC) quoted by Agerpres.
During the videoconference attended by the transport ministers from the European Union, the focus was on identifying solutions to eliminate the bottlenecks that ariose lately in road transport, as well as the difficulties faced by the other modes of transport, due to the crisis generated by the new coronavirus.
Minister Lucian Bode called on the European Union counterparts and the representatives of the European Commission to urgently establish transport corridors that would allow operators in the industry to carry out their activity at a level that is as close as possible to the optimal one. At the same time, in order to support the transport operators, the Romanian minister specified that measures such as the exemption from Regulation (EC) No 561/2006, regarding the periods of driving and rest of the drivers, for the national and international road transport of goods, for a period of 30 days, which Romania has implemented today, must be identified and applied promptly.
