Bosch organized in October, exclusively in digital format, the third edition of the Bosch Future Mobility Challenge student technical competition. Bosch Future Mobility Challenge is an international technical competition organized by the Bosch Engineering Center in Cluj since 2017. The competition is aimed at teams of students (undergraduates or master’s degree) interested in developing autonomous driving algorithms for vehicles at a scale of 1:10. Every year, after about 6 months of intense work, the best teams test their algorithms in the final of the competition in Cluj-Napoca, and this year, due to the current context generated by the global pandemic, the qualifications and the final of the competition took place online. For the current edition, a total of 42 teams from 5 countries have registered. After the qualifying rounds, 18 teams from Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria and Hungary were invited to participate in the qualifying round on October 16.
The final of the competition took place on October 18, also online, where the 10 finalist teams competed for the prizes of the edition, totaling 9,000 euros. The first place and the prize of 4,500 euros were won by the team “Back on Track” from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, the second place and the prize of 3,000 euros by the team “The Pelicans” from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, and the third place and the prize of 1,500 euros were awarded by the “4Team” team from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.
The organizing team of the competition within the Bosch Engineering Center in Cluj also launched the application for next year’s edition.
“I am glad to see that these young people have not lost their enthusiasm to work in this unfavorable context for teamwork and they managed to surprise us with unique technical solutions and well-structured presentations. Their performance and enthusiasm confirm that, despite all the uncertainties and changes we have all experienced lately, our passion for building a better future motivates us and helps us overcome any obstacles. Congratulations to the winning teams, and congratulations to all the students who were persevering and found the motivation to follow their passion in these difficult times,” said Frank Wolf, director of the Bosch Engineering Center in Cluj and member of the technical jury.
