The Executive Director of the Hellenic Energy Exchange Group, George Ioannou, the President of the Polish Energy Exchange (TGE), Piotr Zawistowski and the President of the Romanian Commodity Exchange (BRM), Gabriel Purice, signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 which is intended to mull over opportunities in the field of energy exchanges (natural gas and electricity) and spur the creation of new services for market participants, BRM said.
“Given the interest and future developments of the gas markets in Europe and, in particular, in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the memorandum sets a set of objectives and paves the way for combined efforts and approaches that will add value to the market environment,” added BRM officials.
At the signing of the memorandum, George Ioannou stated that this document is the expression of a spirit of long-term cooperation between the three parties and a roadmap that will be developed with additional actions that will promote innovative and sustainable solutions.
Piotr Zawistowski mentioned that this memorandum will start cooperation between three different markets, from north to south of the CEE and SEE, which, in his opinion, will contribute to increasing the value of the electricity and gas markets in this part of the continent.
At the same time, Gabriel Purice expressed his conviction about this cooperation and believes that the ideas and solutions promoted will successfully facilitate the use of regional resources in a more efficient way. At the same time, the initiative is an attractive model that other regional actors in Central and Eastern Europe would be interested in joining.
