Bulgarian energy company Inercom signed a framework agreement with solar panel maker Anhui Huasun Energy to receive solar photovoltaic modules with total capacity of at least 1.5 GW, the Chinese company said.
The Himalaya series HJT solar modules are due to be delivered by 2025 and will be used for Inercom’s large-scale utility projects in Bulgaria, Huasun said in a press release, according to SeeNews.
An engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, Inercom already worked with Huasun in 2021 to receive 86 MW of HJT solar modules for a utility solar project in southern Bulgaria. The supply agreement foresees another order of more than 500 MW HJT modules to be delivered to Inercom by Huasun by end-2023, for use on other renewable energy projects under development.
“Inercom has been deeply involved in the Bulgarian market for decades and has participated in the development and construction of photovoltaic projects in many regions. It is the first company that used HJT modules on a large scale at an early stage in Europe, which indicates that HJT has very broad prospects and significant value in Europe,” Huasun CEO Dan Zhou said.
The Bulgarian company is the developer of the 150 MW Apriltsi solar farm near the southern town of Pazardzhik. In 2021, Inercom completed and commissioned 57 MW of the facility using panels delivered by Huasun. Over the past decade, Inercom has constructed solar photovoltaic parks with total capacity of more than 150 MW in Bulgaria, Greece and Romania.
Huasun has been a developer and promoter of HJT technology since its inception in 2020. HJT modules, which are made up of thin layers of amorphous silicon and crystalline silicon, deliver higher power generation efficiencies compared to conventional solar modules.
