The heating system of the Capital must be modernized and managed much more efficiently, and the Ministry of Energy presented several solutions to solve the problems, such as the ELCEN-Termoenergetica merger, the modernization of CETs and the network and geothermal energy, says the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.

“We are once again facing a major crisis of the heating system in the Capital, a situation that directly affects the comfort and daily life of the citizens of Bucharest. The capital needs urgent solutions and a clear vision to overcome these serious, recurring problems We presented several solutions at the level of the Ministry of Energy. The first and most important is the merger of ELCEN and CGMB, and the Ministry of Development has already promoted the necessary legislative changes, and until the end of The merger should be ready by 2025. The second is the modernization of the CETs, for which we are trying to obtain the necessary financing from the Modernization Fund – cleaner air in Bucharest and lower maintenance bills , for which we have made available almost half a billion euros, also from the Modernization Fund. The fourth is geothermal energy, for which we have already started the feasibility study, in partnership with the USA”, claims Burduja.

He emphasized that the results will come through teamwork, and the Ministry of Energy is fully open to collaborating with the Capital City Hall and all the institutions involved.

“It is clear that the heating system of the Capital must be modernized and managed much more efficiently, and the results will only come through teamwork. The Ministry of Energy is fully open to collaborating closely with the City Hall of the Capital and all the institutions involved to contribute to solving the problems of the Bucharest heating system. I am fully convinced that together we can transform this system into an example at the national and European level, as has already happened in Oradea, where the cost of a gigacalorie is almost three times lower than in Bucharest.” , the minister emphasized.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced that he had a telephone conversation on Wednesday with the Mayor of the Capital, Nicuşor Dan, regarding the state of the district heating network in Bucharest, and that several meetings will take place in the coming period, including with the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, in order to improve the situation, according to Agerpres.

“Speaking of repairs, we all see that in Bucharest there is a serious situation with the heating network, half of the city does not have hot water. Today, in the morning, I spoke with the Mayor General of the Capital, Nicuşor Dan, and we agreed that, together with the Minister of Energy, in the next period, let’s have meetings and find the best solutions to unlock this. I firmly believe, when it comes to people’s lives, that we have to collaborate and it doesn’t matter the political color, and the placement of responsibility from one to the other, I don’t think it’s a solution,” stated Marcel Ciolacu, in the Government meeting.
