The connection of the four CETs in Bucharest directly to the Transgaz network could be done in two years – two and a half years, and the savings thus achieved would amount to around 50 million euros per year, said the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.
He claims that the losses from the heating network of the city of Bucharest are high, 2,000 tons per hour, and annually they amount to 20 million euros.
“If we look at the cost of a GC in Bucharest, today it is 1,000 lei. In Oradea, in a centralized, integrated heating system, it is of 350 lei. The solutions are very clear the Elcen – Termoenergetica merger, started during my mandate at Ministry, with the support of Mr. Claudiu Crețu and the team from the Ministry, later approved by the General Council, after multiple insistences. It will be done in the next six months, up to a year, after going through all the steps,” said Burduja.
“(About) the modernization of the district heating network… here we tried to get 590 million euros from the Modernization Fund and we have already signed important contracts, including last week for Constanța, Cluj-Napoca and Craiova. We had already signed with Suceava a month ago, a month or so. I understood that the municipality of Bucharest would also submit. They will enter the evaluation and let’s see what will be the impact on the network. Certainly the network losses are high. Next, we are talking about 2,000 tons of hot water every hour flowing under Bucharest. The third important solution is this very modernization of the CETs, and I told you exactly the financing line obtained, the projects made by Elcen and by Titan Power and, of course, connecting the CETs directly to the Transgaz network is a solution on which we started working at,” added Burduja.
