The Iernut gas power plant has gone through a prolonged blockage, but has reached a 97% execution stage, Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja told Energynomics.
“The works must be completed by June 2, 2025, and to accelerate it, direct payment of subcontractors by the Romanian company was proposed. Once operational, the power plant will bring significant benefits for energy security and price stabilization,” Burduja said in an exclusive interview for Energynomics Magazine.
The contract regarding the completion of the works and the commissioning of the Iernut power plant, concluded between Romgaz and Duro Felguera, was increased, through an addendum, by the amount of 10.487 million lei, representing the value of additional technical assistance services provided by the subcontractor General Electric, Romgaz informs in a report submitted on Monday to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
“SNGN Romgaz SA informs shareholders and investors that, on March 28, 2025, the Addendum no. 2 to the Design and Execution Contract no. 40928/03.04.2023 was concluded, having as its object “Completion of the works and commissioning of the investment objective Development of the Iernut CTE through the construction of a new combined cycle thermoelectric power plant with gas turbines” concluded with Duro Felguera SA. The conclusion of the Additional Act was previously approved by the Board of Directors of SNGN Romgaz SA. (…) By Additional Act No. 2, the price of the Contract is increased by the amount of RON 10,487,880 representing the value of additional technical assistance services provided by the subcontractor General Electric”, the report cited by Agerpres states.
According to the cited source, consequently, the performance guarantee of the Contract will be supplemented accordingly, the other contractual clauses remaining unchanged.
On April 5, 2023, the National Gas Company Romgaz and Duro Felguera Spain concluded the contract regarding the completion of the works and the commissioning of the investment objective “Development of CTE Iernut through the construction of a new combined cycle thermoelectric power plant with gas turbines”, worth RON 344.926 million (excluding VAT), which provided for the establishment of guarantees of EUR 17.5 million.
