The solution for maintaining a low price of bills is nuclear energy, says the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.

He attended on Thursday, in Paris, at the “Roadmaps To New Nuclear” international conference, organized by the Nuclear Energy Agency in partnership with the French Ministry of Energy Transition.

“We have to solve an almost impossible equation with three variables: we want safe, accessible and clean energy. Safe energy means not being at the hands of dictators who use energy as a weapon. At the same time, we care about the bills that citizens receive at the end each month. We want them to be as low and as stable as possible. We also care that the private sector has access to energy at an affordable price so that it remains competitive. The third variable, in the long term, is the future of our planet. For Romania, the answer to this equation is nuclear energy,” emphasized Sebastian Burduja, according to Agerpres.

The Minister of Energy had several bilateral meetings at the OECD, on the sidelines of the event dedicated to the nuclear sector: with the counterpart ministers from France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, with the US Deputy Secretary of Energy, as well as with the Director General of the Agency for OECD Nuclear Energy.

The NEA Roadmaps to New Nuclear initiative aims to create a dialogue space for countries that share common ideas regarding international collaboration between governments and industry in the field of nuclear energy.

The Paris conference brought together ministers from over 20 countries, with the objective of doubling and potentially tripling nuclear capacity by 2050, in order to reach Net Zero targets.
