Romanians will have safe access to gas, including in the event of a cold season with lower temperatures than last year, in the context where Azerbaijan has guaranteed us a capacity of up to 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, and the degree of filling of the Romanian deposits has already exceeded 75.5%, according to the Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja.

He met, in Bucharest, the Minister of Energy from Azerbaijan, H.E. Parviz Shahbazov.

“This country is a leader in a complicated region, and the relationship with Romania is very special. We will not forget that, in the difficult conditions of the energy crisis, Azerbaijan guaranteed us a capacity of up to 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which we can use, if necessary, also this winter. This suggests that Romanians will have safe access to gas, including in the event of a cold season with lower temperatures than last year. Moreover, the degree of filling of the warehouses Romanians exceeded 75.5%, far above Romania’s commitment to the European Union, and compared to the same period in 2022, we have almost 700 million cubic meters more stored,” said Minister Sebastian Burduja, quoted by Agerpres.

He emphasized that he discussed with the Azeri minister about the development of the strategic partnership, bilateral investments and about the joint projects envisaged in the field of energy, including the green corridor that will connect the Caspian Sea with the Black Sea.

“We also addressed the investment plans of the SOCAR company, an important player on the Romanian market. SOCAR employs over 700 specialists in operations in our country (99% are Romanian) and has ambitious growth intentions. The collaboration between Romania and Azerbaijan in the field of energy it brings important benefits not only to the two countries, but to the security of the whole of Europe,” pointed out Sebastian Burduja.
