The Ministry of Energy is extremely determined to support the development of production capacities from renewable sources and the development of green technologies in Romania, a good part of these projects being financed with European money, said Cristian Bușoi, secretary of state within the relevant ministry, on Wednesday, on the occasion of the opening of the Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec exhibition.

“The Ministry of Energy is extremely determined to support the development of renewable energy production capacities and the development of green technologies in Romania. A good part of these projects are financed with European money. Through the PNRR alone, we have financed 269 projects for the production of electricity from renewable sources. There is a component regarding the production of batteries, with 5 contracts being signed. Regarding the production of photovoltaic panels or components, two contracts were signed, and regarding storage, 11 contracts were signed, only from the PNRR. For the maturation and sustainability of renewable energy production capacities, in the coming years, the contracts for difference scheme was a success,” mentioned Cristian Bușoi, according to Agerpres.

According to him, the first call was highly appreciated both in the country and in Brussels.

”The second part follows for additional capacities, which will be supported by the support scheme for contracts for difference, and in the Modernization Fund we are talking about over 600 projects submitted, which are to be analyzed and selected, those that qualify for financing,” added the Secretary of State.

He emphasized that, as far as production from renewable sources is concerned, there are over 1,400 mayors who will use electricity from such sources for their own local consumption. The Secretary of State also referred to the modernization of the Transelectrica transmission system, the transformation of the Oltenia Energy Complex, and cogeneration plants.

“All this means investments, mainly from European money, but also the mobilization of private fund initiatives, which will transform Romania, keep it extremely connected to European strategic directions – and ensure that in the coming years we will have a more predictable system, assured energy security, more stable prices and reduced CO2 emissions, until reaching the zero emissions objective in 2050”, the dignitary also said.

The largest green exhibition in Romania – Green Energy Expo & Romenvirotec – is taking place from April 9 to 11, within the Romexpo exhibition complex. The event addresses sustainable living, from renewable energy production and energy efficiency to smart waste collection, sorting and recycling, from water and wastewater management to the smart transformation of urban life and digitalized public services.
