The Electrica Group will support everything that green technology means, and Romania can play a very important role in this region, said on Tuesday Corina Popescu, Electrica CEO, according to News.ro.
“The Electrica Group will support everything that green technology means. I believe that Romania can play a very important role in this region if it understands that the future is green and if it tries to find alternatives for those areas that are affected. Green is the card we have to play,” Popescu specified.
In March, the merger of the two service companies in the group was approved, so that for today’s core business there are three main directions: supply, distribution and services. “Everyone will ask why we merge them and not leave them as they are. And I will answer with a question: Why did CEZ merge the companies at their HQ in the Czech Republic? Why did Enel merge the companies at home? Because there are a series of synergies that practically serve the portfolio optimization project,” said Corina Popescu.
Last year, Electrica also approved the strategy for the next five years, which focuses on optimizing activity at the level of what the group companies are currently doing and inorganic growth, meaning evaluating projects from project areas that are not core business today. “In order to grow inorganically, you have to consolidate what you have. With this crisis coming, we too need to become more efficient. Last year we approved the strategy, now we have moved on to the implementation plans,” she also said.
