Romania collected 1.9 billion euros from structural and cohesion funds financed in the 2021-2027 financial year, and the overall absorption rate places it at the level of the European Union average, announced the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Adrian Câciu.
“Romania has collected 1.9 billion euros from the structural and cohesion funds financed in the 2021-2027 financial year, and the general absorption rate is at the level of the European Union average (Romania has 6.11% and the EU average is 6.19%). On the centrally managed programs (by the Ministry of Investments and European Projects and the Ministry of Transport), the absorption of the structural and cohesion funds is at a higher level, namely 7.3%. In the last few days alone, over 650 million euros have been collected from the structural and cohesion funds related to the 2021-2027 financial year, and the reimbursements from the EC will continue at the pace we forecasted, considering that Romania has concluded contracts worth over 31 billion euros,” Adrian Câciu wrote in a Facebook post, according to Agerpres.
He stressed that Romania still has to recover on Regional Programs, where the absorption rate is 3.2%.
“We still have to recover on Regional Programs, decentralized to Regional Development Agencies that have the quality of Management Authorities for these programs, agencies subordinated to Regional Development Councils coordinated by County Councils, where the absorption rate is 3.2%. I am convinced that the model that we, those in the current coalition, have set in terms of management and implementation of European funds, including their decentralization, will be continued by the future governing coalition and the pace of absorption of European funds will be sustained so as to repeat the success of the absorption of European money from the 2014-2020 exercise”, added the Minister of Investments and European Projects on the social media page.
