Marius Carașol, the former director of Transelectrica, was sentenced by the District 1 Court to 2 years and eight months of imprisonment for fraud and use of forgery, as well as the prohibition of some rights, for falsifying his diploma. The decision may be appealed.
Also, the court also decided “the total cancellation of the forged document, respectively of the Engineer Diploma series D no. 0286614, apparently issued by the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, including any identified copies of it,” according to financialintelligence.ro.
An investigation by Edupedu.ro revealed exclusively that Marius Carașol used a fake license diploma in order to be employed as general manager of the state-owned company Transelectrica.
