Carbochim Cluj, a company whose majority shareholder is Carbo Europe, part of the Iulius group, is close to completing the process of relocating production to a new Cluj unit, within which it has built a photovoltaic park of 920 panels that will produce 448 MWh / year
About 5 million euros were invested in relocating the factory and equipping it with new technologies. In the coming years another 2 million will be directed towards the efficiency of production lines, according to TransilvaniaBusiness.
“We are probably the first factory in Cluj that has already installed a system composed of approximately 920 photovoltaic panels, this being the best solution to regularize consumption and costs. We estimate that the annual production will be 448 MWh, also contributing to the elimination from the circuit of 230,000 kg of CO2/year, which would be produced from conventional sources. Two important sections of the Carbochim factory will benefit from this renewable energy, moved to the new location we have in the former hall of Tricotaje Someșul. From November we will operate in this new production unit, thus ending the relocation process that started a year ago and which we carried out without any periods of inactivity”, said Viorel Popoviciu, the general director of Carbochim.
The new machines purchased for the re-engineering of the factory, as part of the relocation process, will contribute to an electricity saving estimated at 50%. The Carbochim platform covered 14 ha. Of this area, less than 30% was functional in recent years, the rest being disused, residual and energy-consuming spaces.
The objective of the largest producer of professional abrasives is to achieve an energy saving of 18% at the production unit on Bd. Muncii.
