Eaton is a global company, present in 178 countries, which produces power supply solutions, solutions for the automotive and aeronautical industries. In Romania, Eaton is present with 2,500 employees and three factories, where some of the equipment is produced, said Cătălin Crivineanu, Sales Engineer, Power Quality, Eaton Romania, at the “Digitalization and Energy Efficiency – Timisoara” conference, organized by Energynomics.
One of the segments with which Eaton is present on the energy market is the power sources used in case of failure or UPS.
“In an ideal world, there would be no need for UPSs in an electrical installation; but things are not ideal, the power supply network is often not in the best parameters. In addition, we, as users, pollute it with equipment connected to the network – we generate frequency or harmonic variations, or network noise. UPSs are installed to supply critical loads or equipment and ensure the continuity of supply of that equipment or applications”, Crivineanu explained. He introduced the new second-generation UPS 93 PM, launched this year, which has an efficiency of 97%, in double conversion.

At the same time, Eaton’s storage solutions use the energy stored in batteries in parallel with the UPSs to provide power when needed.
“Energy can be supplied directly to the load. There are multiple applications: I choose to pay less energy to my supplier, I can supply energy directly to the grid or adjust the frequency on command,” he said.
Storage solutions can be installed in factories to ensure continuity of supply. Batteries can thus be used to provide energy when there is a surplus. Eaton UPSs have an efficiency of 97-98%, compared to the market average of 95%, and this can generate significant economies of scale, for faster amortization of the investment.
Eaton products provide tools for energy management of all kinds. In Romania, the company is present in Bucharest, where it is headquartered, but also in other cities, such as Brasov, Constanta, Baia Mare, Cluj and Timisoara. The company has two factories in Maramureș and a third in Arad.
